For a variety of reasons, it has taken a few days to post about a loss to our community: a colleague had a recurrence of cancer and decided to stop treatment and enter hospice. A short time later, he died. His last message to everyone read in part:
That message resonated with so many of us, and I hope that the students (even those who didn’t know him that well) take his words to heart. As the end of the seniors time with us draws to an end, there are lots of opportunities to pass along those words of wisdom that we feel seniors should hear before they leave and, well, this is probably the best summation of “those words” that I’ve read.
Kendall’s attention to our lives and what’s important reminded me of another colleague, Frau. The two of them combined are the best of what our profession should be. RIP and thank you both.
